Forza Horizon 5 PlayStation: Drag Racing Event Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Drag Racing Events in Forza Horizon 5 are the 3 quarter-mile drag strips available in Mexico — Teotihuacán Drag Strip, Aeródromo Drag Strip, and Festival Drag Strip — the shortest race events in the game and the fastest wins available for the "Racing and Pacing and Plotting the Course" Gold trophy.

All 3 are also included on our Forza Horizon 5 Mexico map.

Unlocking Drag Strips: Guanajuato Expedition

Drag strips are part of the Street Scene outpost network. Complete the Guanajuato Expedition to build the Horizon Street Scene Outpost — the same expedition that unlocks Street Racing Events and the Born Fast story.

All three drag strips appear simultaneously on the map once the outpost is built.

Why Drag Races Matter: The Fastest Trophy Wins

"Racing and Pacing and Plotting the Course" (Gold) — win 80 different Race Events in Mexico. All 3 drag strips count toward this total alongside Road Racing, Dirt Racing, Cross Country, and Street Racing events.

At roughly 30–45 seconds per race from a standing start to quarter-mile completion, drag races are by far the shortest event type — winning all three first is the most time-efficient start to the 80-win grind.

The Three Drag Strips

  • Teotihuacán Drag Strip — beside the ancient pyramid complex in central Mexico, one of the most visually distinctive race venues in the game.

  • Aeródromo Drag Strip — at the Aeródromo en la Selva airfield in the jungle biome. The flat tarmac of the decommissioned runway makes for a clean launch surface.

  • Festival Drag Strip — at the main Horizon Festival site, the most accessible strip for early-game players who haven't fast-travelled across the map yet.

The Launch: Where Every Drag Race Is Won or Lost

Drag racing in Forza Horizon 5 is a 1v1 standing start — the green light drops and both cars launch simultaneously. The entire race is decided in the first two seconds:

  • Hold the brake and apply throttle before the light drops. Let the RPM build to the optimal rev range for the equipped car — for most AWD cars, this is around 60–70% of the redline. Holding higher causes wheelspin on launch; holding lower loses off-the-line momentum.

  • Release the brake on green. Don't lift throttle; hold it flat after launching. On AWD setups with drag tyres, wheelspin should be minimal. On RWD cars, feather the throttle immediately after the brake release to avoid spinning out.

  • Shift precisely. Manual shifting at each redline marker gains a measurable advantage over automatic gearing across a quarter-mile. The difference is most pronounced in the top gear acceleration phase toward the finish line.

Best Car Setup for Drag Racing

The two most important car statistics for drag strips are Launch and Acceleration — not top speed.

A car with high launch control that reaches 100 MPH in 1.5 seconds will beat a faster car that reaches 150 MPH more slowly every time across a quarter mile.

AWD drivetrain conversions, drag tyre upgrades, and launch control tuning (raising the front suspension stiffness to transfer weight rearward on acceleration) consistently outperform road-tuned setups at the strip.
